Oni are ogre-like creatures of Japanese folklore, depicted with wild hair, crazy eyes and horns. Some villages hold yearly ceremonies to drive away Oni, particularly at the beginning of Spring.

I remember the Oni from "The Funny Little Woman" children's story book. It is a great story and the description reminded me of that... but with just "The Beast" title it look liked a scary ape-like creature until I read the description - but don't take that the wrong way your designs are great!
